We wanted to hike for a few hours this morning, so we headed over to Kakiat Park.
Creeks and Streams run through the park.
The ruins of an old sawmill on the Mahwah River. The mill was owned by the Blauvelt family who farmed the area and maintained their orchards of apple, peach, and cherry trees.
Kakiat County Park is part of The Harris patent, an original English land patent from the King James the Second. The earliest settlers there called it Hackyackawet , later shortened to Kakiat.

Have a stunning river view in Haverstraw
This park in Tarrytown is a great place to picnic with a friend, walk around (and up and down) and bring kids.
I collect the white frosted beach glass, but if I see an interesting shaped bit in blue or green, I'll take that too. I also take home a wide variety of pebbles and small stones.
Peck's Pond, West Haverstraw
Hudson River near Bowline Point (I'm not sure what the structure is, but it's interesting to look at-- it belongs to the local electric generating facility. I never see any activity near it. )
One of Haverstraw's Marinas
Congers Lake (with freight train across the water.)
View of Iona Island, and in the background is Peekskill Bay and the City of Peekskill. (From a ridge on Bear Mountain.)
View from the Gazebo at Bowline Point.
Near Grassy Point.
Going north on Rt. 9W, just above West Point. We stopped here to admire the view. (This was a few months ago.) If you look closely you can see the freight train.
This morning I hiked up Bear Mountain. Spending the day there, meandering up to the tower, having lunch with this view, and meandering back down is just perfect.
An added bonus for me.
I can watch this sort of activity for hours.
I hiked back up to see them from a different perspective.
There they are again.
